‘Filippa’
In Latvia, ‘Filippa’ is known by almost every apple grower. This cultivar was obtained in 1877 in Denmark by schoolteacher Johannsen, who named it after his daughter. It is very well adapted to maritime climate, because is rarely in injured either by scab or canker. The apples are fine, aromatic and tasty. Yet they are poorly suitable for marketing, as tend to drop and are susceptible to bruises. The winterhardiness in Latvia is only average.
