Plant and public health
Goal – promote plant health for ecosystem functions and food security to improve public health.
Priority research topics:
- Healthy plantations (agrobiocenoses);
- Research on the heritability of resistance in horticultural plants;
- Study of host-pathogen interactions;
- Plant pathogen research (pathogenicity, virulence, aggressiveness, epidemiology, genetic diversity, emerging pathogens);
- Research on plant pathogens and their natural vectors, the emergence of pests in relation to introduced species, new, less studied crops;
- Development of diagnostic methods for plant pests;
- Development of plant healing methods;
- Comprehensive study of plant raw materials: identification and isolation of primary and secondary compounds;
- Fruits and vegetables for health improvement: identification of chemical compounds and selection of the most valuable genotypes;
- Processing products with newly created value, including a high content of biologically active substances.
