‘Paulis’
This cultivar was named by the outstanding breeder Rūdolfs Dumbravs in the memory of his mathematics teacher Paulis Dreimanis. To those who do not know - mathematics is very important in plant breeding! If there is an apple-tree not injured by any diseases, this is it – ‘Paulis’ suffers neither from scab and canker, nor from mildew and fruit rots. The tree is winter-hardy, not big and bears fruits every year. In short, this is a great variety for home gardens, but the sweet, red apples are a little too small for commercial growing. The cultivar was registered after the death of the breeder by Institute of Horticulture in 2017.
