This is a truly nostalgic cultivar. Many old orchards have large trees of ‘Serinka’, producing an abundant crop of aromatic apples in autumn. But the cultivar is very little planted in new orchards. This has serious reasons. ‘Serinka’ is not only susceptible to canker, but also a very late producer. And in the autumn, when orchards are full of fruits, the clay-coloured apples cannot compete with the good-looking fruits of modern cultivars. Yet, there is still no modern variety with exactly the same unique aroma of ‘Serinka’…
