Latvia's latest scientific results presented in Poland

At the beginning of September, the 32nd Council Meeting of the European Fruit Institutes Network (EUFRIN) was held in the Polish city Skierniewice. Latvia was represented by leading researchers from the Institute of Horticulture (LatHort), Edīte Kaufmane and Gunārs Lācis.
A country report on the latest scientific results of the LatHort was presented to colleagues from 17 European countries. Since these meetings are held annually, it was an excellent opportunity not only to showcase Latvia’s achievements in fruit-growing science, but also to learn about the latest developments from researchers in other countries and engage in discussions about the challenges faced by the European fruit-growing sector and science.
During the event, participants were introduced to the scientific activities of the Polish Institute of Horticultural Sciences (https://www.inhort.pl/#). They also had the chance to visit newly established infrastructure created over the last four years, including the Fruit and Vegetable Storage Physiology Laboratory, the Regional Center for Horticultural Biodiversity, the Innovative and Sustainable Horticultural Technology Center, and the Fruit and Vegetable Processing Center. The event also featured discussions on future collaboration opportunities in various fields.
The next meeting is planned to be held in Latvia in August 2025.
