The formulation of the Horticulture Sector Development Strategy for 2026 - 2036 has been initiated.

The LatHort, in close collaboration with representatives of the horticultural sector, educational institutions, policymakers, and experts from related fields, has initiated the development of the Horticulture Sector Development Strategy for the period 2026 - 2036.
The goal of the strategy is to define a sustainable and competitive development path for the horticultural sector over the next decade, taking into account both global trends and local challenges and opportunities.
The Director of the Institute of Horticulture, Inese Ebele, emphasizes: “It is crucial to foster closer cooperation among stakeholders- particularly through the formation of cooperatives that unite local fruit and vegetable growers. Latvia should establish several regional hubs to ensure sufficient supply for both supermarket chains and export markets.”
On March 28, a working seminar was held at the ATTA Centre in Riga, bringing together more than 50 participants to discuss the importance of the strategy for the sector's development and to collectively shape a vision for the coming years. During the event, the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders was strongly emphasized as a foundation for a unified, forward-looking vision for the future of horticulture in Latvia.
