The Community Garden at the University of Latvia Academic Centre has officially opened. As part of the opening event, an improvised press conference entitled “From Idea to Garden” took place, featuring Solvita Zeipiņa, researcher at the Institute of Horticulture. She shared valuable advice for anyone taking their first steps in urban gardening – from plant selection and garden bed planning to fertilisation, pest management, and simply where to begin.

The discussion also included landscape architect, urbanist and urban environment activist Helēna Gūtmane, and was moderated by Kitija Balcare, representative of the Environmental Council of the University of Latvia.

The event provided an excellent opportunity not only to answer questions but also to share insights gained through participation in the Roof2Fork project, which has been successfully implemented for three years in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics.
