Introducing of sustainable vegetable growing technologies for increasing soil fertility and efficient using of resources

Purpose of the demonstration:

Practically demonstrate, introduce farmers to the implementation of sustainable technologies for vegetable growing for soil fertility and resource efficient use of agricultural service crop mulches.

Demonstration tasks:

• Set up demonstrations on two farms where pumpkin, cabbage and butter beans will be cultivated using agricultural service mulch and compare it with traditional technology used to date.
• During the demonstration (vegetation period of 5 years), compare the current technology with the new service plant mulch variant.
• Organize a field day on both farms once a year to introduce interested people to a comparison of new technological options and resource efficiency in both options.
• Farms and organizations involved in the demonstration: ZS „Strautmaņi” (Lielvardes county), IK Liena Muceniece (Lielvardes county), association “Latvian Biological Agriculture Association”, LLC “Latvian Rural Advisory Center” (LLKC).
